
The commonly termed GRE exam stands for Graduate Recorded Exam. It is the Education Testing Service (ETS) that controls and directs The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) on behalf of the Graduate Record Examinations Board and the Council of Graduate Schools.
GRE exam is taken by students who want to study in prestigious schools and universities in UK, US or Canada. These scores are used to determine whether a student will be able to cope with the curriculum in that graduate school. GRE is a standard test that is taken by students all across the world. Apart from the general GRE exam, there are twelve GRE subject tests that are offered to students by the program. These tests are basically to determine the performance of a student success in a specific field of education.
GRE Exam is quintessentially a multiple-choice exam. GRE program also offers students, a variety of services and publications to their respective graduate program. The GRE tests consist of three sections: GRE verbal, GRE math and the GRE analytical section. GRE also demands an essay to test writing skills. The scores of the verbal and the math section GRE exam range from 200-800 points respectively while the GRE essay is measured on a scale of 0 to 6. Besides there are to versions of the GRE exam; one is paper based and another one is computer based.
A student can opt either of the two. The essay helps the examiner to know on the writing abilities of the student. . The student has to write an essay on the issue of a give topic in the first part of the essay while the second part deals with analysis of an argument. The first part of the essay needs to be completed within 45 minutes while the second part needs to be completed within 30 minutes.
